In my view, artists are activists or at least, they should be. Art has great power, and in a world that needs all the art it can get, artists have a responsibility to share their talents with their community. Below are some links to blogs or organizations that are either great resources for musicians or are contributing to our civic conversation about the arts. I hope you enjoy them!

My Blog

My blog is where I reflect on my creative process; discuss issues of art, society, and politics; and share meaningful artistic experiences. Come check it out and get to know me a little better!

Entrepreneurship Center for Music

Follow the Entrepreneurship Center for Music on Facebook and get regular updates on workshops, lectures & seminars; find helpful (or just entertaining) links to professional resources; and get copies of our weekly "Entrepreneurial Upbeat," the newsletter for The University of Colorado's Entrepreneurship Center for Music.

Entrepreneur The Arts

And speaking of arts entrepreneurship, here's a terrific and thoughtful site you should check out: Entrepreneur The Arts. Lisa Canning is a leading educator and arts advocate in the process of forming the first-ever free-standing institute for arts entrepreneurship. Lisa shares insightful articles and blogs from artists across the spectrum, as well as her own reflections on the creative process, finding one's career path, and exercising your passion.

Americans for the Arts

Americans for the Arts is a leading advocacy group that also is doing some of the most interesting research around on audiences, arts funding, and other issues. This is a great site for anyone seeking hard data on the impact of the arts on our economy and in our society.

ArtsJournal

A great compendium of articles and blogs on the arts, from leading writers and news outlets around the world. A great one-stop-shop for what's happening today in the art world.

NewMusicBox

An E-zine for American contemporary music, with articles, links, and announcements. A must for anyone interested in the new music scene.

The Savvy Musician

My good friend David Cutler maintains this terrific site chock-o-block full of resources for musicians of all types, ranging from job postings and organization directories to helpful tips for the aspiring and professional musician alike.

If you have suggestions for blogs, sites, or resources to list here let me know!
