It's with great joy (and more than a little relief) that I announce that I've been awarded Tenure at The University of Colorado-Boulder. I'm honored by the confidence my institution has shown me by conveying this milestone, and I'm gratified that seven years of hard work has paid off.
I'm also extremely proud to be the first in the country to be hired with a full-time, tenure-track appointment in arts entrepreneurship; I'm now the first to have gone through the full process and earned Tenure. (To be clear: there are other tenured faculty in the U.S. teaching entrepreneurship, but they all received Tenure in their discipline and later got into entrepreneurship. My appointment in 2009 was the first one to be fully about arts entrepreneurship from the outset.)
I'm humbled by the responsibility this brings with it, and hope that my appointment can help pave the way for many, many others. I have some thoughts on the process that got me here -- one that had more than a few bumps and struggles along the way. But that will wait. For now, please join me in raising a glass in celebration!!
